Daniel Schiff, CPL Co-Founder and Manager
Daniel Schiff began his career in June 2007 as a landman in the Barnett Shale. Next, he moved to the Haynesville Shale taking a job with an experienced broker in Shreveport, Louisiana. He later found work in the Eagle Ford Shale and the Permian Basin, where he became highly skilled at lease negotiations, running title, mineral ownership reports, curative, due diligence, and right-of-way. Through his time as a landman, he has become proficient at working in courthouses, title plants, state/federal records offices, as well as utilizing online remote resources. For the past five years he has explored the mineral management side of oil and gas, becoming a senior mineral manager where he used his expertise to help landowners organize and manage their assets in various states and plays.
James (Jake) Brown, CPL Co-Founder and Manager
Jake Brown started his career in 2008 as a landman in the Haynesville Shale with an established broker that trained him how to be a full service landman. He was moved to the Eagle Ford Shale Play in South Texas where he did leasing, full abstract packets, curative, and right-of-way. In 2014, he took a job as a senior landman working numerous plays in Texas, Louisiana, and New Mexico where he managed abstract projects from the field to the final product. He was also tasked with negotiating numerous multimillion-dollar leases and reviewing abstracts, acquisition title packets, curative and supplemental title packages prior to attorney submittal. In 2019, he accepted a job with an established boutique mineral management firm evaluating numerous clients’ interest holdings and organizing their assets.
